Website for Leiden Asia Year 2017 has been launched
In 2017, Leiden will celebrate Asia during twelve months filled with festivities, exhibitions, lectures and other events dedicated to Asia, including Japan. Key event will be the opening of the new Asian Library within the University Library of Leiden University.
At this very moment the University Library is undergoing major construction work to add another floor to its 1980s building. This new floor will house the Asian Library and will bring all of the university’s Asian collections together in one building, emphasizing Leiden University’s strong position as research and knowledge center for the study of Asia. Not only Leiden University holds rich collections dedicated to the various regions in Asia, also the Leiden museums such as the Museum of Ethnology and Natural History Museum Naturalis have interesting works and they will participate in the Leiden Asia year as well.
